Turkish Language and Literature Department aims at improving the grammar, comprehension (listening / reading / note-taking) and expression (oral / written) skills of the undergraduate students in academic contexts.

The Mission of the Department

Our mission is to ensure that our students can, first of all, communicate well in their mother tongue, using it correctly; can understand and interpret publications of art, culture and science and produce texts in these fields. Our department aims at educating individuals who have adjusted to team work and developed positive attitudes towards life itself.

The Department’s Understanding of Education

Our understanding of education adapts the “student-centered” approach teaching students to access knowledge by making use of all methods and techniques used in teaching languages. The medium of teaching in Maltepe University is Turkish.

The Courses

Students take Turkish Language courses in their first grade of their undergraduate studies in both semesters, 2 hours a week as 2 credit compulsory courses.
