Mathematics, which may be described as the method of correct and connected thinking and drawing results, has possessed an important place in all times and among different scientific fields.

Besides being a self-specific field, also being an indispensable tool of many scientific and socio-economic fields like natural sciences as physics, chemistry, biology, all engineering sciences, science of statistics, prediction theory, decision theory and econometry, mathematics has been brought to the point of being an irreplaceable science.

Department of Mathematics, besides giving a qualified knowledge of mathematics and culture in academic meaning, also aims at preparing their students to a multidisciplinary working life by following programs containing applied courses like computer sciences, statistics, operational research, optimisation, prediction, decision theory, economics and business administration courses as electives.
