Announcement: 16 What Should I Do If One Of My Colleagues Or Relatives Are Hospitalized Due To The Suspicion Of Covid 19? (21.03.2020)

  • There is no need to take any precautions for people who have close, direct or indirect contact with suspected patient until his/her test result is positive.
  • If the suspected patient turns positive:

Close contact: You should monitor your health for fever, cough and shortness of breath at home for 14 days at home.

Direct contact: You should monitor your health for fever, cough and shortness of breath for 14 days.

If you have close or direct contact to any suspected patient and have symptoms such as fever and cough, you HAVE TO go to the nearest Hospital immediately, wearing your surgical mask.

Below you can find the definitions of close and direct contact:

Close Contact:

  • Being within 1 meter of a sick person with Covid-19 in the same room/indoor places (hospitals, banks, buses, public transports etc.)
  • Being for less than 15 minutes with a sick person with Covid-19 in the same room/ indoor places (hospitals, banks, buses, public transports etc.)
  • Being face to face within 1 meter of a sick person with Covid-19 for about less than 15 minutes.

Direct Contact:

  • Caring for a sick person with Covid-19 without having precaution against droplet infections, working with the health care providers that are infected with Covid-19 or being visitors of patients at health care facilities.
  • Students and teachers sharing the same space with a sick person of Covid-19 in any level of education.
  • Being in direct contact (such as hand shaking) with a sick person with Covid-19.
  • Being in direct contact with secretions (saliva, phlegm) from a sick person with Covid-19.
  • Being face to face within 1 meter of a sick person with Covid-19 for about less than 15 minutes.
  • Being within 1 meter of a sick person with Covid-19 in the same room/indoor places for about less than 15 minutes (hospitals, banks, buses, public transports etc.)
  • Sitting next to a sick person with Covid-19 in the same flight (2 front, 2 back, 2 side seats)
  • Sharing the same house with a sick person with Covid-19.
  • Sharing the same office with a sick person with Covid-19.
