About the Coronaviruses
Coronaviruses are a big virus family that leads to major illnesses such as influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV), and severe acute respiratory syndrome. (SAR-CoV). 2019-nCoV, which is currently spreading worldwide, is one of the subtypes of coronaviruses.
Infections caused by those viruses are usually upper-respiratory infections such as runny nose, sore throat and fever. It can also cause pneumonia by affecting the lungs and lower-respiratory tract, and sometimes, it can result in death. However, most of the 2019-nCoV cases appear to be mild and relatively fewer than SARS AND MERS.
Protective Measures Against the Coronavirus
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In case of no water supply and soap, an alcohol-based hand antiseptic must be used.
- When coughing or sneezing, cover mouth and nose with disposable tissue paper and discard tissue immediately into a closed bin. In case of no tissue paper, use your flexed elbow.
- Maintain at least 1-meter distance between yourself and other people who have symptoms of the flu and cold.
- Ventilate your home and office rooms frequently.
