UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Culture

About Us:

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) have been drawing attention to the women’s human rights, empowerment of women and gender equality since its foundation, and have been doing international actions in these areas. The gender equality, which is the one of the two international priorities of UNESCO, is also a part of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals Project. Up to the present, UNESCO has been incorporated twenty-five chairs all over the world, which are focusing on different aspects of gender equality, and Maltepe University UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Culture is the third one in Turkey, after Giresun University Chair on Improvement in Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Koç University Chair on Gender Equality and Sustainable Development.

Maltepe University UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Culture aims to focus on especially the relation between gender equality and culture, do scientific research and practice at the national and international levels, develop scientific projects, provide training programs on gender equality, organize scientific meetings and collaborate with the other UniTwin/UNESCO Chairs both in Turkey and abroad.
