Maltepe University Faculty of Fine Arts started education with the Departments of Cinema, Acting and Plastic Arts. A year later added Cartoons and Animation Department and Photo and Video Department in 2004.

The Department of Art Education and Images of Arts also participated in 2008 - 2009 academic year. The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts was opened in 2013-2014 academic year. As of today, Faculty of Fine Arts continues its active education with its Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Cartoon and Animation, Graphic Design and Performing Arts Departments.

The Faculty of Fine Arts aims to strengthen the interaction between the departments by nourishing the unity between all branches of art. In addition to the workshops, the faculty supports the education of the faculty by meeting and speaking in the city.

Today, considering the point of art, it is believed that the student should have knowledge in all other branches of art in order to prove authority in one area. For this purpose, the courses in our faculty are created within the framework of interdiscipliner logic. It is also aimed that an artist is fully equipped with side disciplines to support the production process.

Since 2008-2009 academic year, it has been prepared as a joint Year in which fundamental art formation is gained for all departments in our faculty. In this year when the student is supported by side disciplines such as philosophy, psychology and sociology discovers the reasons for  student individuality and  presence in the Faculty of Fine Arts. As students who have gained art formation, they take courses from the second year onwards.
