MATHEMATICS IS EVERYWHERE

Workshop Leader: Yeşim İmamoğlu, Boğaziçi University

Mathematics is everywhere! Whatever topic you are interested in, you can bet that some kind of mathematics will be involved! I addition to many applications of mathematics in a wide range of fields, you can observe mathematical structures in nature as well. But perhaps most importantly, mathematics gives us a chance to investigate patterns and relationships and drive logical conclusions.

In this workshop, participants will work in groups to explore how mathematics is everywhere.

Groups will first work on activities related to one the following topics, then they will share their experiences with the rest of the participants.

-Art

-Cryptography

-Mathematics in Nature/Using Mathematics to Explore Nature

-Mathematical Games and Puzzles

Anyone is welcomed to this workshop-especially the ones who claim they hate mathematics!

Learning is the most magical part of the life for us, the meaning of the life for many of us, the beginning of an endless process. In this process, sometimes we feel painful or unwilling, bored but somehow learning is a situation that reveals our feelings. When we wake up at the morning; how would be the world if learning was forbidden or if we were taken away? Let's meet in the circle. Let’s enjoy learning while exploring all these answers.
