1) What are the dormitory facilities?

  • Our dormitories are located in Marmara Education Village. Thus, faculties are within walking distance of the faculties.
  • For food and beverage services, we have a refectory on the campus. Three meals are provided. You can find the prices for the refectory here.
  • Apart from the dining hall, there are cafes and restaurants on the campus. If requested, cafeterias and restaurants on our campus can deliver orders up to the dormitory doors of the students. Our cafeterias are at the service of our students with TVs, seating areas where they can host their guests, entertainment facilities (billiard pinball etc.).
  • Our health center and fully equipped ambulance serve offer a 24 hour emergency service.
  • Marmara Education Village, where the student residence is located, is situated in wonderful nature and clean air among the pine forests. It offers a natural sports field for our students, a free walking track, a full Olympic size swimming pool and basketball-football courts which are free of charge. Students can benefit from the fitness center, indoor and outdoor tennis courts at a discounted rate.
  • There is 24-hour unlimited wireless internet connection in our student dormitory buildings. In addition, a study room with internet-connected computers, study desks, drawing desks and a rest area is offered to our students.
  • On our campus, there is a bank branch and ATMs belonging to the same bank.
     

2) Can I get information about dormitory fees?

3) Which documents are required during the dormitory application?

  • Student certificate stating that he/she is a student of Maltepe University
  • Copy of Identity Card
  • 2 passport size photos
  • Criminal Records
  • Residence Certificate (Students whose residence is in Istanbul will be accepted if there is any place left after the residence is made.)
  • Single signed medical report to be taken from state hospitals or health centers, ( confirmation  stating that there is no objection to the student residing in the dormitory should be added)
  • Hepatitis B test report
  • Lung chart report
     

4) What is the earliest date I can move into the dormitory?
Entrance to the dormitory is determined every year according to the academic calendar of the unit where the students study.

5) What is the purpose of the deposit fee I paid when entering the dormitory? Can I get it back when I leave?
In case of any damage to the dormitories, the compensation is made from the deposit. When the student leaves the dormitory, the deposit money is returned after the loss assessment is made, if any.

6) If I apply to the dormitories late, will I have to pay the entire dormitory fee?
The entire fee does not have to be paid. From the date of entering the dormitory, the dormitory fee is determined by calculating the day.

7) Are dormitories opened for the summer school? Is there a separate fee for the dormitory during this period?
An announce is made on whether the dormitories are open for this period. During this period, the fee determined by the decision of the board of directors is paid. This fee is not included in the annual price you pay.

8) If I leave the dormitory during the semester, will the fee covering the rest of the semester be returned?
Students who enrol at the institution, who leave by September 15, are charged up to 10% of the annual housing fee, while those who leave after September 15, the remaining months of the housing service fee is charged up to 50%. This amount will be taken from the dormitory fee and the outstanding balance will be returned, in addition to the deposit paid.

9) In which cases are non-stop fee refunds made?
If the student goes abroad as an Erasmus student, if he / she has health problems (in case of presentation of the committee report bearing the signature of at least three doctors to be taken from a full - fledged government or Medical Faculty Hospital that the student is not allowed to stay in the dormitory), he / she will be in the 2nd year of the academic year and proves that his / her period is not due to the school with a transcript or graduation certificate, if he / she completes his / her foreign language preparatory class in half a semester and becomes eligible to move to the department, and if he / she presents his / her success certificate from the Foreign Languages School and declares that he / she will not stay in the dormitory, the period of residence in the dormitory is charged and the remaining fee is returned to the student.

There is no refund for the dormitory meal fees.

10) What should I do to renew the dormitory registration every year?

  • Students who have stayed at the dormitory in the academic year and want to renew their registration for the next year will notify the Dormitory Directorate of the room they want to stay after the announcement of the registration renewal has started, and their roommates to stay with if they are going to stay with them. The room of the notifying student is reserved in the registry according to the availability. The room is reserved for the student until the end of the registration renewal date. If no registration renewal has been made as of the specified date, the reservation will automatically drop without notice.

 

  • The student, who wants to make a final registration, comes to the directorate and fills out the "Student Registration Form" and signs the Dormitory Commitment. If the room he wants is suitable, the registration form is approved by the Dormitory Manager and a copy is given to the student. The student goes to accounting with the form and deposits the fee. The student brings the accounting paper confirming that the fee has been paid to the Dormitory Management. 
     

11) Are there dormitory entry-exit times?
Students must be in the dormitory on weekdays (except Friday) and on Sundays no later than 00.00 on Friday and Saturday at 01.00. It is compulsory to enter Marmara Education Village before these hours. In addition, it is not possible to leave the Marmara Education Village on weekdays (except Friday) and after 23:00 on Sundays and after 00.00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
 
12) What are the dormitory rules?

13) What is the sanction if the dormitory rules are not followed?
If the rules are not followed, written warning-reprimand and a penalty are given.
 
14) If I am expelled from dormitories, can I return?
The dormitory board makes the final decision regarding the student’s circumstances. 

15) Do students have the right to choose a room?
Our students have the right to choose a room according to availability.
 
16) Can I switch from a room upon request to a room of a different category?
If our students are not satisfied with the room they stay in, they can switch to a different category room by paying the difference.
 
17) Can I change rooms if I have disagreements with my roommate?
The student making the request states why he / she cannot agree with the student. If considered appropriate by the dormitory management, room changes can be made.
 
18) What items do I need to bring with me when coming to the dormitories?

  • Sheets, pillows, quilts or blankets
  • Bathroom towels & toiletries (towels, soap, shampoo, toilet papers, etc.)

According to your request, you can bring the following items with you.

  • Kettle
  • Tea, coffee machine
  • Toaster
  • Hair dryer
  • Iron
     

19) Can I do laundry in the dorm?
We have a laundry room in the dormitory. Students can use this service for a fee. Our laundry room provides service between 08:00 and 18:00 except Sundays and public holidays.
 
20) How is the security provided in the dormitories in the Marmara Education Village?
Marmara Education Village security unit provides 24-hour service with its professional team and security cameras. The entrance doors of the student dormitories are opened with encrypted electronic cards for each student. Dormitories are monitored 24 hours are monitored with security cameras, and entries and exits are recorded.
 
21) Is there a place I can go to at the university when I have a health problem?
Our health center and fully equipped ambulance are available 24 hours a day. If our students experience health problems, they can reach the health center by dialing 2060 from the internal telephones in the common areas of the dormitory.
 
22) Can my family or friends stay as a guest in my room when they come to visit?

23) What should I do when I lose my room key?
It is reported to the Dormitory Management that the key has been lost. The key loss fee is paid by the student and the room key is provided.
 
24) What can I do when I encounter electronic or technical problems in the dormitories?
The related malfunction or problem is reported to the Dormitory Management. Administrative staff working in the Directorate of Dormitory provide 24-hour service in shifts and record such problems in the fault logbook. The relevant technical personnel respond to the specified malfunctions as soon as possible and solve the problem. 

25) Should I take any action to leave the dormitory when the education period is over?
When our students leave the dormitory at the end of the academic term, they must inform the Dormitory Management and return the key. If he/she is going to stay in the dormitory for the next year, he must report this and complete the registration renewal process. If requested, our students can deliver their present items to the dormitory warehouse, provided that they comply with the delivery conditions specified to receive at the beginning of the academic semester. If our students are going to leave the room, room control is provided. After the room assessment is completed, the room delivery form is mutually signed and the key and dormitory entrance card are delivered and the exit from the dormitory is terminated.

Enter from Kartal-Samandıra junction and turn towards Samandıra after tolls. You can reach our campus by following our routing signs at the intersection points.

27) Can I smoke in the dormitory (student rooms and all other common areas)?
Smoking is prohibited inside our dormitories. If smoking is detected, disciplinary provisions of the relevant directive are applied for our students.
 
28) Can I have alcoholic beverages in my room?
Alcohol use is prohibited in our dormitories. If it is determined that alcohol is used or kept, disciplinary provisions of the relevant directive are applied about our students.
 
29) Can I hang, posters, banners, announcements, pictures etc. in the dormitories?
If permission is obtained from the Dormitory Management and allowed by the Dormitory Manager, it can be hung.
 
30) Can I feed pets in the dormitories?
Pet nutrition is prohibited in our dormitories. If pets are found to be fed, disciplinary provisions of the relevant directive are applied about our students.
 
31) Can I listen to music in my room?
In the room, listening to music or playing a computer game without disturbing our other students is allowed.
 
32) Is there a place where we can watch TV in the dormitories?
Our rooms do not have TVs. However, students who want to watch TV can watch it in the cafe located in the dormitory area.
