Software Engineering (EN)

In an increasingly fast pace, our society depends on software or software-based systems, for example in transportation, entertainment, telecommunications, government, business, health, and avionics.

Software systems have a high degree of complexity, often consisting of millions of lines of code produced by large teams of engineers or programmers. The timely and cost-effective completion and their reliable and efficient operation are critical. To meet all these targets, a disciplined and well-founded approach to the design, creation, and operation of software-based systems under real-world constraints (economical, ethical, technical, legal) is needed.

The Software Engineering programme at Maltepe University provides a unique blend of foundational courses in Computer Science and Engineering, and practical work through a series of projects. The outstanding team of faculty provides training in almost all areas of modern computer science and information technology with practical real life experiences.

By taking into consideration the factors such as user requirements, cost constraints, technical and economical feasibility, reliability, ease of maintenance and repair, product quality and on-time delivery, software engineers are responsible for developing the most effective software through the system approach of the engineering science.

Software Engineering Undergraduate Programme (in English) at Maltepe University provides fundamental courses about designing, projecting, developing, producing, operating and maintenance of software. The curriculum has been developed by following the basic steps suggested at the IEEE/ACM SE Cirruculum guidelines 2004 project. While developing the program, the needs of the software applications in Turkey and constraints are taken into consideration.

The duration of study is four years except one year for English preparatory class, and the medium of instruction is English.
