The concept of synthetics describes the dynamic character of our age, in which people are in a state of mental transformation due to technological imitations and relationships are complicated, which strongly shape cultural changes while artificializing nature. Ethical debates can be observed around the concept, such as virtual reality, which is mentioned with the influence of social media, the domination of artificial intelligence in all fields, and sustainability, where the recycling of artificial products is questioned. In this context, while asking ourselves whether the sustainability or recycling of reality is possible, we inevitably encounter the hard process of redefinition of reality. In this environment of uncertainty, we thought that the works to be produced with the interdisciplinary, unique, new and creative methods of contemporary art would offer an objective point of view in many respects.
As Maltepe University Faculty of Communication, Department of Visual Communication Design, we believe that our online international group exhibition with a selection committee, which we will organize for the third time this year, will gain a rich content with the works you will create with your unique technique and production style. We are waiting for your applications until May 17, 2024 for our exhibition, which we wish to interpret and explore our changing lives with the effect of technology, the boundaries between natural and artificial, the difficulties faced by human beings in the modern world and the radical change experienced through the concept of synthetics.
