Our University’s Search and Rescue Club Continues to Honor the Memory of Our Students Who Lost Their Lives in the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes
To the Attention of the University Community,
The Search and Rescue Club, one of the key stakeholders of our university's Search and Rescue Union (MUSAR), continues to honor the memory of our valuable students who lost their lives in the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. In this context, a new library has been added to the ones opened in memory of our students lost in the earthquake.
On February 6, 2024, the anniversary of the earthquake, the students of the Search and Rescue Club inaugurated a library named after Faculty of Medicine student Elif Yıldırım at Kahramanmaraş İstasyon Primary School. Between October 25-29, 2024, our club members, on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Republic, established another library at Hatay Tahtaköprü Primary and Secondary School, named after Belkıs Senanur Hacıoğlu, a second-year medical student. Additionally, they carried out repair works at Hatay Kırıkhan Muratpaşa Primary School.
Following the opening of the library, on October 28, 2024, the eve of the Republic Day, our students participated in the Republic Day celebrations with the students of Hatay Kırıkhan Muratpaşa Primary School, whom they had helped repair the school for. They shared in the festive spirit of the holiday and organized enjoyable activities for the children, such as face painting, songs, and games, bringing joy to their day.
We would like to express our gratitude to the students of Maltepe University’s Search and Rescue Club for organizing these meaningful activities and wish them continued success.
Sincerely,
The Rectorate
