Success of Our Graduate Akın BAĞCILAR

Our graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema, Akın Bağcılar, and National Underwater Imaging Athlete Erkan Balk have won two gold medals in two separate categories at the Underwater Imaging World Championship held in Albania.

The CMAS (World Confederation of Underwater Activities) Underwater Photography and Underwater Video World Championship took place from October 7-12, 2024, in Albania, with the participation of 19 countries. In this prestigious championship, both Erkan Balk, a National Underwater Imaging Athlete, and Akın Bağcılar achieved great success. They each won a gold medal, with Akın Bağcılar winning in the "Video Film Category" and Erkan Balk in the "Documentary Video Category," becoming world champions.

In 2023, during the CMAS Underwater Photography and Underwater Video World Championship held in Cuba, Balk and Bağcılar represented our country, proudly raising our flag in honor of the 100th anniversary of our Republic. This year, they continued their world championship streak, and by once again performing our National Anthem, they brought us immense pride.
