The third session of the SOYAÇ Volunteer Meetings seminar series will continue with Prof. Dr. Belma T. Akşit's online session on "The Value and Rights of the Child." The event will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, between 14:00-15:30. Students who attend all sessions of the seminar series will earn a "certificate of participation."

About the Speaker Prof. Dr. Belma T. Akşit
Prof. Dr. Belma T. Akşit is recognized as a leading social scientist and educator with extensive academic and research experience at important universities and research institutions in Turkey.
Belma T. Akşit completed her undergraduate education in the Sociology department of METU Faculty of Arts and Sciences, then received her master's degree from Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies and her doctorate in Family Health from the Institute of Health Sciences. She began her professional career as a researcher at the Provincial Bank City and Region Department and HÜNEE, later working at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health, Başkent University Faculties of Medicine and Communication, and Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University Faculty of Communication. Until her retirement, she worked as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Maltepe University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and served as Vice Rector at the same university.
Throughout her career, Akşit has conducted important work in Social Sciences for Health, Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods, Research Ethics, and Quality in Higher Education. As a TÜBİTAK President's Advisor, she led various projects in the European Union Sixth Framework Program and held important positions such as the Chair of the Executive Steering Committee of the Population and Development Strategies Sub-Program within TÜBA.
Akşit has managed numerous international and national research projects in health and social sciences and has published extensively in these fields. She has also played an active role in projects supported by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and United Nations-affiliated organizations.
