Outdoor Classroom Day Event Held

The Outdoor Classroom Day event, organized in collaboration with the Kartal District Directorate of National Education, was held on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, at the Ülkü Bora Secondary School campus. The event was organized and facilitated by students and alumni of the Primary Mathematics Teacher Education Program at Maltepe University, bringing together approximately 500 students through three sessions and nine workshops.

Held outdoors between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., the event offered students the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on activities, including Tree Planting, Seed Ball Making, Composting, Designing Plant Roots, Bird Feeder and Birdhouse Construction, My Nature-Friendly Bag, Mathematics in Nature, Turning Recycling into Art, Mandala Making, and the Mammoth Workshop. These activities enabled participants to explore the connections between nature, art, and mathematics through experiential learning.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Serdar Yılmaz, Principal of Ülkü Bora Secondary School, and the school administration for their support; to Ceren Abaza, mathematics teacher and event coordinator, for overseeing the organization; to our alumni who facilitated the workshops; to the members of the Parent–Teacher Association for their voluntary contributions; to our department faculty members for their collaboration in planning and implementing the event; and to all the students whose enthusiasm and active participation made the day a great success.
