This course is a continuation of ING 257. The aim of ING 258 is to teach students how to use technical terminology and grammar at a level that will allow them to follow literature. Other learning outcomes of the course include developing reading and writing skills and expressing ideas in group and classroom discussions. Texts related to students' own fields are presented to develop their listening and reading skills. While teaching field terminology through these texts, the transfer of knowledge gained by students in field courses to English is ensured.

It is aimed to provide general information to students starting nursing education about microbiology science and its place and importance in nursing and to teach disease-causing microorganisms and the defense mechanisms developed in humans against them.
Classification of microorganisms, structure of bacteria, reproduction and staining properties; genetic structure of bacteria and genetic material transfer mechanisms, sterilization and disinfection methods, antimicrobial substances: effect and resistance development mechanisms, general properties of the immune system, immune response formation, immune response development mechanisms against infections, properties and application methods of vaccines and antisera, general properties of hospital infections and prevention methods.
