Maltepe University Social Contribution Coordination Office continues its mission of generating societal value through activities conducted in collaboration with leading social responsibility organizations such as the Application and Research Center for Street-Involved Children (SOYAC), the Center for Learning and Teaching (ÖÖUAM), and UNESCO Chairs. Among the Coordination Office’s key contributions is SOYAC’s membership in the Academia Network for Child Rights (AÇHA) and its psychosocial support efforts, ongoing for over a year, at the Mimar Sinan Temporary Living Center in Üç Gedik Neighborhood, Antakya, following the February 6 earthquakes.
ÖÖUAM’s innovative educational approaches and SOYAC’s field experience enhance the effectiveness of our educational programs aimed at disadvantaged groups. In addition to these two essential centers, our Coordination Office also hosts two important international platforms: the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Philosophy and the UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality and Culture. The human rights work led by Prof. Dr. Ioanna Kuçuradi strengthens the academic foundation of our Coordination Office. This valuable academic legacy guides our social contribution efforts in areas such as child rights and gender equality.
Moreover, our campus has been recognized with YÖK’s Barrier-Free University Awards, and the social responsibility projects developed under the leadership of our centers are enriched by our students’ voluntary participation, contributing significantly to the promotion of social awareness. ÖÖUAM’s work on accessibility in education, SOYAC’s projects for disadvantaged groups, and our foundation rooted in human rights philosophy stand as concrete examples of our multi-faceted approach and serve as a source of inspiration for our students, who are the future societal leaders.
