TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

“The Evaluation of the Measures Taken in the COVID-19 Process in the Scope of International and Domestic Law”

1. Purpose of the Contest

The aim of the competition is to support the development of the ability of law faculty students to use their theoretical knowledge on current issues, to make comments, to scan resources, to evaluate relevant judicial case law, and to write their ideas in writing in accordance with article rules.

 

2. Theme of the Contest:

The subject of the competition has been determined as "Evaluation of the Measures Taken in the COVID-19 Process in the Scope of International and Domestic Law".

In this context, it is possible to participate in all studies that will be written from every field, branch or interdisciplinary perspective of law.

Each article can be written with its own unique title and scope, provided that it remains within the scope of the competition. The acceptance of the article to the competition depends on its compliance with this specification.

 

3. Organization of the Contest:

a. The competition is organized by Maltepe University Health Culture and Sports Department, Maltepe University Faculty of Law, Maltepe University Student Council Law Faculty Student Representative and ILSA Maltepe University Law Club.

b. Evaluation of the articles will be done by the competition juries.

c. The competition juries are as follows:

4. Conditions of Participation

 

a. The competition is open only to all law school students who are actively registered at the undergraduate level in law faculties in Turkey.

b. Only single-authored articles will be accepted for the competition.

c. The articles to be sent to the competition must be original. Never before on any other platform, channel, contest, magazine, etc. must not be used, unpublished, sent for use or publication. By applying for the competition, the participants are deemed to have accepted the provisions of this specification completely.

e. The participant accepts, declares and undertakes that the article sent to the competition belongs to him completely and that he has obtained all legal permissions. Manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism by Turnitin, and studies that report plagiarism in excess of 25% will not be considered. For this reason, candidates are recommended to scan their articles in Turnitin before applying, and to submit their applications by reviewing them, if necessary, according to the results of this scan.

 

5. Application to the Contest, Submission of Articles and Required Documents

a. Applications will be made through the announced form. Link for pre-application formula:  https://forms.gle/FXFks3ZBws912p7y6 

b. Articles will be received via [email protected] and [email protected] and e-mail addresses. For participation, the article must be forwarded to these two addresses together.

c. Deadline for submission of articles is August 15, 2021 at 23:59.

 

6. Form and Writing Conditions of the Article 

a. The written language of the articles to be sent to the competition must be Turkish, and they must comply with academic writing and ethical rules, as well as Turkish grammar and spelling rules. Each article should include an abstract in Turkish and English, consisting of at least 150 and maximum 200 words.

b. The entire main text should be written in Times New Roman 12 (twelve) points, with 1.5 (one and a half) line spacing. Footnotes will be used according to the Chicago method.

c. The bibliography section should be at the end of the article and the sources used should be sorted according to the surnames of the authors. References should also be given as footnotes at the end of the page in the main text.

d. The name / surname and university information of the participant should not be included in the cover and text of the article.

e. Articles should be a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 pages.

 

7. Evaluation of Articles and Announcement of Results

Evaluation results will be announced on September 20, 2021 in the announcements section of the address “maltepe.edu.tr/hukuk” and on social media accounts.

 

8. Awards

 

Among the articles, the authors of the 3 (three) articles with the highest score by the Jury will be awarded as follows and the articles will be published in the Journal of Maltepe University Faculty of Law, subject to peer review.

a. First Prize: 3,000 TL

b. Second Prize: 2.000 TL

c. Third prize: 1.000 TL
