Compulsory Internship

FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION İNTERNSHİP REGULATION

 

1.Rationale

Maltepe University Faculty of Communication; Journalism, Visual Communication Design, Public Relations and Publicity (Turkish), Public Relations and Publicity (English), Radio, Television and Cinema Departments are responsible for completing the theory and practice courses in order to qualify for the graduation degree, as well as the internship work that aiming to gain skills in the application of the profession.

 

2. General Rules

a) Under the chairmanship of a dean,The Faculty Internship Committee  consists of vice-dean, the department heads, faculty internship coordinator, department internship officers

b) Internship works for all departments of the faculty are carried out by departmental internship officers and coordinated by the internship coordinator of the faculty.

c) Each student must successfully complete his / her internship in order to be able to graduate. The Commission has the power to accept or reject all or part of the work.

d) The students are obliged to comply with the relevant disciplinary regulations and the regulations of the institution where they do their internship.

 

3. Internship Places 

a) Workplaces that are interned can be public institutions or private institutions

b) Organizations that do not have a corporate identity that are not of a certain size are deemed unsuitable for internship and are not approved. Internship organizations are evaluated within the framework of the contacts of the Faculty Internship Coordinator and the personal contacts of the students.

c) Students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema and the Department of Visual Communication Design will be able to complete their internship in the fields of film and program making departments, public and private radio or in production companies, agencies and broadcasting departments, news and technical units, project development units, or other specialties. units. Public Relations and Publicity (Turkish and English) Departments students, public and private organizations in marketing communications, advertising, public relations, publicity, press and similar units or public relations and advertising agencies, the university's public relations unit, the relevant units of newspapers and magazines can perform their internships . Journalism students can complete their internships in national or local media organizations, news agencies, television, newspapers, magazines, internet broadcasting and similar broadcasting organizations operating in the public and private sectors.

d) The workplace that is interned should be approved by the internship commission

 

4. Internship Duration

 

Students who have completed the 4th semester do internship for 30 days. Internships, taking into account the conditions of the organizations that provide quotas; only, it can be carried out at any time during the year in a timely manner, in a way that does not eliminate the student's obligation to attend the course. Special cases and practices are subject to the approval of the internship commission.

 

5. Manner Of Work 

a) At the beginning of the 5th semester, students who will do an internship are informed about the principles of internship works by the Faculty Internship coordinator; Internship Regulations are explained and Internship Application Form (FR-059) is distributed or the form on the Faculty website is provided to fill by the student.

b) Internship Evaluation Form (FR-060) and paper that include rules and practice features of an internship is sent to the internship officers who work organization where students do an internship

c) The student prepares an internship report explaining the work that they have done in the scope of the internship. Printed documents, documents, tapes, photographs, CDs and similar materials are submitted to the department internship team at the beginning of the semester following the internship study.

d) Internship Evaluation Form must be completed and approved by the internship responsible at the workplace.

e) Internship Reports, Internship Evaluation Form and the results of the internship tests are evaluated by the internship committee. As a result of these evaluations, the student, who is not considered successful has to do internship again.

Students who wish to study abroad can do their internship abroad in accordance with this directive. In this case, the internship reports should be arranged in Turkish and the Internship Evaluation Form in English.

 

6. Exemption

a) Students who are admitted to the Faculty with the vertical and undegraduate transfer system and who document that they have done an internship in accordance with the provisions of this regulation,

b) Students who document that they have done at least one year of actual work in their department are exempted from the internship. The documents for the exemption must be reviewed and approved by the internship coordinator.

 

7.Directive :This directive comes into force on the date of acceptance of the Senate of Maltepe University

8. Execution: The duties of this internship are executed by the Rector of Maltepe University. The internship commission is authorized to make decisions on the matters not mentioned in this directive.
