Department of Public Relations and Publicity ( English )

Public relations practices dating back to very ancient times became a professional discipline in the 20th century. Public relations are practiced in various sectors and industries. The chamber of public relations and institutions is to establish permanent relationships and positive reputations through communication in stakeholder groups. Public relations professionals can only carry out strategic communication activities that protect the interests of both the public and the institution and enable two-way interaction.

A well-trained public relations specialist is a strict follower of the political, social, and economic agenda and has in-depth knowledge in many areas. She/he quickly grasps the dynamics of the digital world and does not have difficulty adapting to it. It follows the global trends, predicts possible dangers and opportunities, and prevents damage to the relationship established between the institution and the public. It acts by prioritizing ethical values and contributes positively to the interests of both the public and the institution. The primary purpose of our department which is accredited by the Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board (İLEDAK) in 2020, is to train public relations specialists with the qualifications and equipment which is mentioned. Our undergraduate program that we prepared in this direction includes courses in a wide range of fields, from sociology to political science, from economy to art. Some courses are conducted by professionals working in important positions in the sector in order to allow students’ understanding of the sector. Thus, our students, who have mastered both theory and practice, become public relations specialists who can manage the reputation of institutions in a short time in the global world.

Nowadays, when communication transforms every day and traditional media environments are replaced by new media technologies, institutions and organizations apply to public relations practices to survive. Therefore, it is quite clear that in the near future, the reputation of public relations and the need for well-trained public relations professionals will increase.
