The project titled "Sustainability-Targeted Urban Design: Social Center Design in Üsküdar," prepared by 4th-year students Mısra Mastar, Sounds Hazaa and Yusuf Emre Saraç of the Department of Architecture at Maltepe University Faculty of Architecture and Design, within the scope of the Urban Design Studio course, was awarded the Honorable Mention in the International Student Awards (MGF Student Awards) competition organized by the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence (Italy) as part of the 7th MedGreen Forum held on 14-16 February 2024, themed "Getting to Zero: Beyond energy transition, towards carbon-neutral Mediterranean cities." Coordinated and executed by Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay (Assisted by M. Melis Cihan), the project competed with projects from 72 undergraduate and graduate students representing 23 universities across Mediterranean countries in the context of international jury evaluations. Within the scope of MGF FORUM 7, Prof. Oktay also delivered a guest speech titled "Neighbourhood Nexus: Towards Positive Energy Environments in Urban Settings."
