Maltepe University ÖÖUAM Foundation
In March 2020, Turkey entered the global pandemic period rapidly, and with this entry, all balances began to change in the country. The struggle against life in a complex and dynamic system has also taken on a different dimension. One of the most important components of this struggle was education. In the digital transformation process, it became clear that it was necessary to rethink learning and teaching approaches, to look at them from different angles, to shape them in line with the needs of 21st century learners, and to open new doors for learners during the global pandemic. One of the most important initiatives of Maltepe University to realize the dream of a digital campus during the global pandemic was the idea of launching the Learning and Teaching Application and Research Center. This idea, which started in November 2020, officially started to carry out its activities as of March 14, 2021 with the publication of its regulation in the official gazette.
While Maltepe University is on its way to becoming a world university by adopting the approach of “Free in Thought, Contemporary in Education, Universal in Science”, the Learning and Teaching Application and Research Center was established to contribute to this vision and is a center that pioneers the effective, productive and systematic execution of learning and teaching activities in the digital transformation process.
ÖÖUAM aims to support learning-teaching and personal development by working in cooperation with faculty members, associate, undergraduate and graduate students, administrative staff and external stakeholders. It aims to organize adaptation programs for new students, faculty members and administrative staff, to organize and carry out programs to support the development of students studying at different levels outside of learning activities, to design and implement programs that will support the teaching staff to enrich and differentiate the teaching process at the level required by the age. Beyond learning-teaching activities, it also aims to conduct scientific research on issues that keep the pulse of future learning-teaching approaches at national and international level in the context of research and development and to share the results with all its stakeholders.
