Dear Students,
I believe that what defines you, what will guide your life and enable you to live the life you dream of, is the qualifications you possess and the knowledge you acquire. I believe in the importance of earning respect through your knowledge, your character, and above all, your humanity. From this perspective, I believe that a good university education should provide you with a space where you can enhance your knowledge by relating it to life and to your dreams, determine your priorities, recognize your strengths, and, in short, repeatedly ask yourself the question: “Who am I and what do I want to achieve?”
The foundations of Maltepe University were laid with the vision of creating such a space for you. Today, through our undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, our vocational school, our research centers operating in close integration with our academic programs, our multi-stakeholder local and international projects, and our social and cultural activities, I believe that we are realizing this vision together with you.
At our University, a member of the European University Association and awarded the “Diploma Supplement Label” by the European Commission, we continue to take significant steps forward in internationalization. Our annual international student congresses, organized by you, enable young researchers from different geographies to share their work in a multinational environment, develop joint projects, and build cross-border friendships. Within the scope of the Erasmus exchange program, our student mobility continues to increase through agreements that expand each year.
I closely follow and support your efforts to create platforms where you can freely discuss your ideas and bring your creativity and innovative approaches to life. The practice newspaper that is a product of your collective efforts, and the student clubs you have established in diverse fields ranging from cinema to entrepreneurship, from literature to technology, make Maltepe University more vibrant, dynamic, and distinctive. Your participation in national and international congresses, film and art festivals, and competitions to represent our University through your work is a source of pride.
I believe that the transformative power of education grows and multiplies to the extent that it extends beyond the classroom and engages with life. Our multi-partner social responsibility projects, implemented in cooperation with non-governmental organizations, industry, and local administrations, enable us to use this power effectively.
Supporting creativity and adopting an innovative approach are necessities of our age. The technical facilities on our campus both support such an approach and enable theoretical knowledge and practice to be considered together. Our film studios, the second largest university film production facilities in Europe, bring the media sector to our University. The Building Materials Laboratory within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the courtroom designed for the Faculty of Law, and the construction workshop providing design opportunities for students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design all foster creativity and expand our areas of practice.
