Oral Pektaş served as the Rector of Maltepe University between 1997 and 2001. He was the author of the first book on echocardiography published in Türkiye in 1974, the head of the GATA Department of Cardiology team that performed the first Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) procedure in Türkiye in 1983, and one of the pioneers of intravenous streptokinase therapy in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction. He passed away on November 12, 2015. |

Mesut Razbonyalı served as the Rector of Maltepe University during the periods 2001–2004 and 2006–2007. He completed a double major undergraduate program at Ankara University and earned his Ph.D. at Ege University between 1976 and 1980. He received the title of Professor at Trakya University and has served at various universities. |

Aytekin Berkman served as the Rector of Maltepe University during the periods 2004–2006, 2007–2008, and 2014. He previously served as the Chairman of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) Supervisory Board. |

Kemal Köymen served as the Rector of Maltepe University between 2008 and 2014. Born in 1946 in Rize, Köymen completed his undergraduate studies at Istanbul University, pursued his master’s degree in the United Kingdom, and earned his Ph.D. in the United States. He served as a faculty member in the United States until 2005, after which he retired and returned to Türkiye. In the same year, he was appointed Dean at Maltepe University. After serving as Dean for two years, he continued as Rector of the University until 2014. |

Prof. Dr. Şahin KARASAR was born in 1965 and has been serving as the Rector of Maltepe University since 2014. He completed his undergraduate studies at Anadolu University, earned his master’s degree at Marquette University, Wisconsin, and obtained his Ph.D. at Anadolu University. He was promoted to Professor at Maltepe University in 2007 and served as Rector for two terms between 2014 and 2022. |

Edibe Sözen graduated in 1982 from Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations. She completed her master’s degree (1985) and Ph.D. (1989) at Istanbul University in the Department of Social Structure and Social Change. She conducted her postdoctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin, Department of Communications Arts, between 1991 and 1993. She earned her associate professorship in Applied Sociology in 1994 and was promoted to full professor in 2000. In 2012, she began teaching Communication courses at Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu University. Until 2017, she served as rector advisor and vice-rector, and in 2018 she was appointed Rector of the same university, a position she held until March 27, 2020. Sözen also serves as a member of the Presidential Social Policies Board and as Chair of the Press Advertisement Board. In July 2022, Edibe Sözen was appointed Rector of Maltepe University. |
